    Grown-Up Swimming (Adult Summer League)

    Good morning!

This email is not about JCSC this summer for the kiddos—it's about the inaugural season for the "Jefferson City Wash-Ups," our community's brand new Grown-Up Swimming (adult summer league) team. Think adult softball or kickball... but for swimming... Registration for the summer season is now open! It's $65 and will increase to $75 after May 18th. Below is our website and the larger organization's website where you can find out more information. I'll also put some answers below to FAQs I've received.

    1) Who's doing this? A decent amount of Carson-Newman Swimming alumni, as well as random JCSC parents, have expressed interest! My own mother wants to register and come to a meet. You literally just need to be able to get across the pool to participate. We'll have "A Relays" and "scoring heats" I'm sure, but you don't need to be fast by any means to participate. This is all for the sake of fun, exercise, and community.

    2) What will practices look like? Considering I will already be running 15 practices a week for JCSC, I don't plan on hosting adult practices for this program (sorry)! Joe Peeden from KRC/West Valley/Bearden is our Knoxville main dude for Grown-Up Swimming, and he said he'll be posting general workouts of different levels for anyone in our league to utilize. Maybe we can plan some informal weekend practices at the community center later.

    3) What will we do about JCSC on the nights we have Grown-Up Swimming meets? There are only 2 meets on nights that the kids practice, so we'll likely cancel practice those nights since I think a lot of us coaches will be doing this (we'll still have morning practice, though). There is 1 error on the schedule posted online. The meet we're hosting will be on Wednesday, June 18th, not on Thursday, June 19th. Additionally, I've asked Joe for the mid-July meet to be Wednesday, July 16th, not Tuesday, July 15th because we have the JCSC dual meet at Sugarwood that evening.

Feel free to forward this email to anybody who is not currently connected with JCSC or Jefferson County Swimming but may want to join! Reach out with any questions!

    Thank you,
    Josh Winn
