Tom Schumann Memorial GKAISA Championship (City)
Happy Monday!
We're in the thick of it now, Ladies & Gentlemen. In this email, you'll find all the initial information for the Tom Schumann Memorial GKAISA Championship (traditionally known as City), including a Google Form that I'll need you to complete by this Wednesday, July 2nd at 11:59 PM.
First off, we still don't have a resolution from last Thursday's dual meet against Whittington Creek. I'll be sure to let everyone know as soon as I know. We've done our part with the recounting, notifying GKAISA, etc. If we truly won, the kids will for sure get to push us in at practice.
Speaking of practice, let's make sure we're attending as much as possible these next couple of weeks leading up to City! Expect your kids to be a bit worn out as we put in some solid effort this week before "tapering" and focusing on race details next week. Help remind them that their hard work has a purpose, and it will pay off one way or another. The only day that will be fun-focused is Thursday, July 3rd when we play water polo at all 3 of the practices. On Friday, July 4th, there is only morning practice.
Tom Schumann Memorial GKAISA Championship (City)
Despite us having a couple more meets after City, this should be considered our climax of the season! Just about all of the details you could need to know about the meet can be found at this link: https://gkaisa.swimtopia.com/2025-gkaisa-city-cham... Below is a general outline.
- Thursday, July 10th: 10&Under Prelims, Warm-Ups @ 1 PM, Competition @ 3 PM
- Friday, July 11th: 11&Up Prelims, Warm-Ups @ 7:40 AM, Competition @ 9 AM
- Saturday, July 12th: All Ages Finals, Warm-Ups @ 9:10 AM, Competition @ 10:30 AM
- Saturday's times have been updated since the "Meet Invitation" document online was uploaded. What I have typed above is correct.
For new people: "Prelims" refers to the preliminaries of a big meet where everyone swims. The top 16 in every event, individual and relay, will come back and swim on Saturday for points. Especially since relays are included, do not assume your child will not make finals. You will get a better feel for if that will happen next week when the "psych sheet" is published, which shows everyone's seeding (ranking) in the meet. We will also receive more specific warm-up times next week along with volunteer jobs.
Our team's registration and entries are due on Thursday at 8 PM. For me to do this, I need you to complete the following Google Form no later than this Wednesday the 2nd at midnight: https://forms.gle/Ue5yXiFKYxuTS67K8. In the Google Form, you'll be able to pre-order meet t-shirts as well as parking passes. Separate from this Google Form, I also need you to RSVP on our SwimTopia sometime today or tomorrow. I will be busy working on entries Tuesday-Thursday, so if I'm hiding in the shed or looking a little crazier than normal at practice, don't worry, it's all good!
Thank you for reading all of that! If you have questions after checking out GKAISA's City webpage, please reach out. Don't miss those deadlines.
GO CUDAS!!!
Josh
