Good morning, Barracudas!

Tonight we are swimming in our first meet of the season! Time Trials is just against ourselves, though, to practice racing in a swim meet and establish times for our upcoming dual meets. It's a great opportunity for new swimmers to learn how meets operate. For older kids, they might even start the season with some best times!

Please be at the Jefferson City Outdoor Pool no later than 4:45 PM. Have your child find me (Coach Josh) to check in as soon as they arrive. We will begin warming up at 5, and racing begins at 6. The timeline on the heat sheet shows that the last event will be swum around 9. That heat sheet is attached to this email as well as the event list. Look for your child's name on the event list, then you can search for them in the heat sheet. We will be helping the kids learn how to read these documents after warm-ups in addition to teaching them our cheer.

Summer league swim meets are a "all hands on deck" community event. In addition to the normal amount of chaos, we are without Coach Hannah and Coach Will tonight as they are on vacation. Typically, I float at dual meets to coach everybody, but today I'll be with an age group. So, below is the gameplan for who is mostly covering who/what.

• 8 & Unders: Coach Morgan, Coach Sadie, and the Big Cudas
• 9-10: Me (Coach Josh) and Coach Chey
• 11-12: Coach Grace
• 13-14: Coach Kyle
• 15 & Up: Coach Aaron
• Anything related to volunteer jobs: Barbara Nichols
• Anything related to money: Kristen Richardson
• Anything else non-coaching related: Any other Board member

A new variable in our facility surroundings is the playground. I feel like it's going to be impossible to prevent the kids from playing on it during meets. We can't rope it off, either, because it's open to the public. So, here's what we'll ask: If your child is playing on the playground during home meets, they need to be supervised by an adult so they don't miss their races.

With the number of new families we have, I just want to say that there are no stupid questions! New kids will learn a lot tonight, but likely their parents will, too! Don't hesitate to ask your questions. Hope y'all are ready for a good time!
